Tips for Buying/Selling/Trading on NXC

Please read the RULES before you begin trading!

Learn about the Trust and Activity Ranks!

Nxchange assigns a Trust and Acitivity Rating to all users who use the site. Users start off with a Trust Rank of 0 and Activity Rank of 0, and they get higher ranks as they trade.

The Trust Rank is a measure of how other traders have rated this user based on trade feedback. The Activity Rank is a measure of how active the user is on the site. Both ratings are important when deciding on making an offer - you shouldn't just rely on the Trust Rank because users with high Trust Rank but very low activity might mean that this person is not a very active trader recently and may not reply to your offer quickly.

A users Trust/Activity rank is represented by coloured symbols on their user profile. If you click on their Trust/Activity rank icon you can get a breakdown of how this rank is achieved.

Check out previous Trades and Trade Feedback

Before making an offer, check to see the person's previous trade feedback. This can give you an idea of what quality of service the other user might have!

Provide MORE details during a trade, not less

When negotiating a trade, we recommend you provide as many details as possible in the "comments" field. The comments during negotiation are saved with your trade history when you Accept a trade and when you Complete one. This acts as a RECORD of the terms of your agreement, so that neither side can claim they said something when they didn't.

Keep all Trade Details in the Negiation System

Try to avoid using email, Instant Messengers, or any other form of communication when laying down the agreements and terms of an exchange. The Negiation system has a "comments" whose purpose is to let you record details about the agreement. It serves as a paper trail and can be used to settle disputes. Outside communication might lead to undocumented promises that might not be easy to verify. On NXC, the Trade record is a good DOCUMENTATION of your trade agreement.

Include Shipping Details and Misc Details in Trade

Before accepting an offer, make sure that you have already discussed the terms of shipping and other seemingly minor details. Who ships first? What shipping method will be used? Special Packing instructions and special requests are just some of the things to agree upon BEFORE accepting an offer.

Ship Quickly, Give Feedback Quickly

Acting quickly is the sign of an earnest and reliable buyer, seller, or trader. After a trade is accepted, try and act quickly. Send out your parcel or money as soon as possible, and mark down your items as being Sent. Acting quickly can also get you a better trade feedback, since timeliness is one of the criteria of feedback.

Always give trade Feedback, whether it is praise or not. Other members can benefit immensely from your feedback so be honest and fair.

Try and Resolve Problems

Only submit a Bad Trader Report (BTR) if you really can't resolve an issue privately with the other trader. BTRs are a indicator of fraudulent or dishonest traders. The BTR is only meant to expose scams, rip-offs, dishonesty, outright lieing, and fraud. So please, treat it as a last resort.

If someone sent their item a few days slower than they had agreed during negotiation, or if someone forgot to ship you a game manual, these are things to mention in the Trade Feedback, NOT a BTR.

But if someone refuses to send you an item, or disappears after receiving your items, or refuses to honour your original agreement (say, by shipping you the wrong items after you've shipped your own, correct items), then by all means start up a BTR.
